Respond

Finding it difficult to follow Jesus? Does He ask to much of us? What's with this tithing thing? Doesn't He know that I have bills to pay? And how about this serving others? Doesn't He know that I have a family? I don't have time to volunteer at church, just what is that going to benefit me or my family anyway? My job takes up all my time and the weekends are the only times I have to get away from it all. So please don't ask me to commit to being at church every week. Isn't once a month sufficient? I can worship God when ever I want can't I? I mean I love God. Isn't that enough?

I asked someone that the other day and they said of course I love God. And yet they only come whenever, they don't give and they don't even come as a family. Now if someone told me that they loved me but only visited my house only occasionally and never returned a portion of what I had already given them. I don't think I would believe that they really loved me. Who do we think that we are fooling?

I would like to encourage everyone who might read this to take some time out of your busy schedule and reflect on how much God loves you. Hear are some of the very words of God that I love the most.

Psalm 145:8,9
The LORD is gracious and full of compassion, Slow to anger and great in mercy.
The LORD is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works.

Psalm 145:14 - 19
The LORD upholds all who fall, and raises up all who are bowed down.
The eyes of all look expectantly to You, and You give them their food in due season. You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing.
The LORD is righteous in all His ways, gracious in all His works.
The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth.
He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He also will hear their cry and save them.

Now like I said take some time and let these words sink in. He is good to all, He upholds all who fall, He opens His hand and satisfies the desire of every living thing. Amazing, wonderful, mind boggling, indescribable.

Now let us stop trying to earn His love and why don't we just respond to it. If we would, all those things in the first paragraph would not be an issue to us. They would come naturally as a response to His unfailing love. Think about it. No! Really think about it! Then respond.
