living in the unknown

there is much to be said for routine...getting up at the same time every morning...eating the same foods...every Sunday of my childhood we had mashed potatoes, gravy and roast beef for our after church meal...watching the same tv shows...cheering for the same team year in and year out (go WINGS)...same ice cream...same deordorant...same path to work everyday...we feel safe...in control...the big kauna...but is that how we are suppose to live?...I like control...I freak out if I am not in control...but, those who followed the scriptures were called to live in the unknown...Abraham, Moses, Joseph, David, Zachariah, etc...now I am not saying we throw away our day planners...I am asking myself "do I plan the Holy Spirit right out of my life?"...11 yrs ago my  family threw routine out the window and moved to NW PA...we came to a place where we did not anyone...we were not in control...and we have been and continue to be blessed being here...needless to say we have had our share of challenges as well...I would like to think that we still rely on the Holy Spirits moving and are willing to live in the unknown...has routine gotten in the way?...well next week Laura and I are headed for Singapore...the unknown...seeking God's direction for both our lives and those we minister to at Central...and in serious need of spiritual renewal and rest...I will try to keep everyone up to date while in Singapore, so, stay tuned...relax God is in control!!!
