wounds

i am so glad God is patient with me...i am really slow on the uptake sometimes...there is a scripture that says wounds from a friend can be trusted but an enemy multiplies kisses...i love it when God allows me to live out scripture...i don't know if you have friends who can be honest with you...it seems like if someone tells us the truth about ourselves (which sometimes might hurt) we usually walk away from that person...never to really know true friendship...none of us like pain...we all like the pats on the head and the atta boys...it has taken me a while but i am really grateful for friends who would rather hurt me with the truth than butter me up with lies...next time a friend is brutally honest with you, thank them, don't run from them...wounds from a friend can be trusted...relax God is in control!

  1. totally agree. we - even as christians have gotten so caught up in only wanting to do what is pleasurable, that we don't even bother to tell the truth. I mean, who wants to be the one to be deep enough to add perspective to a friend that may be heading down a path that is going to only lead to a place he's going to have a hard time climbing back out of. The big trick is balancing truth and love. Truth without love is not a "wound of a friend" - and love without truth isn't really love. They can't be separated.
